RAW Skatehalle - Nike SB Shelter (Friedrichshain)

The RAW Skatehalle is not new, it's part of the bottom-up initiatives for which Berlin is famous, famous as the RAW Tempel area, that was the "Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk" - the area where the trains were repaired and improved. The area was named after Franz Stenzer (a german communist killed by the Nazis in Dachau) and after the WWII was deeply damaged. The area is now used by RAW Tempel e.V. as place for studios and production spaces for artists of all genres, and cultural events (like the Craft Bier Fest).

Now, after Redbull which has invested in the Mellowpark Bmx & Skateboard and the Converse Space 002, it has been time for Nike to put the signature under another underground part of the city.

Basicly the return in term of image and PR for those companies is so big, that they have understood that to create approval from these communities, it's important to do something real without overdo.

The Nike SB Shelter has been inaugurated January 2014 and in July it has hosted the first big event with a competition.

Jewish Portal of the Kristallnacht (Charlottenburg)

There's actually not so much left from the Kristallnacht pogrom in 1938, the Night of Broken Glass, the series of coordinated attacks against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and Austria on 9–10 November 1938, carried out by SA paramilitary forces and non-Jewish civilians. German authorities looked on without intervening. The name Kristallnacht comes from the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after Jewish-owned stores, buildings, and synagogues had their windows smashed.

The first Jewish religious services after the Second World War took place back in the summer of 1945. In the underground, around 1,400 Berlin Jews had survived from the death camps were about 1,900 survivors returned to Berlin. In 1953, the separation within the Jewish community was completed : a small number of members remained in the former Soviet sector, while the greater part moved to the western sectors. Then after Die Wende, they merged again.

The Jüdisches Gemeindehaus (Former Jewish Community Building) in Fasanenstraße is now a new building, and although the Jewish community has moved its headquarters from the this building in the center Judaicum (New Synagogue) on Oranienburger Straße, it's an important center for West Berlin.

Before the construction of the town hall, were placed here the old portal, the sculpture of a destroyed Torah scroll, as well as a memorial to the murdered Jews in the Holocaust, still visible from the outside.

Breaking the Circle: Bad Belzig

Not far from Beelitz (both city and sanatorium), the city of Bad Belzig is  located about 70 km southwest of Berlin and it's part of the "cities with historic centers" - Arbeitsgemeinschaft „Städte mit historischen Stadtkernen“.

Main attractions are medieval Eisenhardt castle and the thermal bath SteinTherme. There is also a picturesque historic town centre with the town hall and the market place in the middle.

Markthalle IX (Kreuzberg)

The Market IX, also called Eisenbahnmarkthalle (railway market hall), is one of 14 former municipal market halls in Berlin , were built at the end of the 19th Century in the former districts of Berlin. They replaced the open markets at various city squares and guaranteed better hygienic conditions.

In 2009, the initiative "Projektgruppe Markthalle IX“ was founded to prevent a sale of the Market Hall and at the same time to revive the market hall structure with modern offerings again.

It is now used in different days with different type of products.
